I've always used hog intestines in my work but recently I discovered beef intestines and beef bung caps. I ordered in bulk from the company that supplies my local supermarket. After soaking overnight, they have softened and rehydrated quite a bit. As you can see from the photos, they are twice as large as the hog intestines, but also twice as thick. I'll be stretching some soon but I expect to lose a little of the translucency due to the thickness.
