Meet the Artists!

This beautiful book was published in March 2016, and was created by Ann Lee and Ashley Rooney.

From beehive to hotplate to the artist's hand, encaustic has evolved as a versatile medium applied to almost every artistic style. This book is a long-overdue look at a newly popular art form representing old style, new style, with photography, paper, mixed media work and more.

SHOWING are 46 of the 79 artists featured in this book - including New Mexico artists. These artists have graciously agreed to share their work with the Encaustic Art Institute and its' Santa Fe gallery. This is a unique and diverse gathering of encaustic /wax artwork that has been hand-picked as the "best-of-the-best".

Well I spent the day making some new footstools out of two wooden wine boxes, some carved legs and a cow hide. Still not exactly what I was hoping for but I think they'll grow on me. Painted them using Annie Sloan Graphite, then Crackle Tex, then Paris Gray, then a coat of black wax.

I'm so proud of my niece Taylor Willis, who graduated from Highschool on Saturday. She graduated with honors and as a North Carolina Scholar. I'm glad I was able to share this special moment with her!
