A Great Week

Thursday, October 22, 2015

Wow!! It's been a great week so far for me! I just found out that my work will be featured in Excellence in Fiber, an innovative juried exhibition. Selected works will appear in the First Annual Excellence in Fibers catalog which will be presented to curators and directors of 100+ museums and galleries that feature fiber work and a select group of fiber and fine craft collectors. It also will be integrated into the special expanded issue of Fiber Art Now, a subscriber-supported publication that also is sold on over 400 Barnes & Noble newsstands in the US, 200+ Chapters Books in Canada, and select newsstands in the UK.

And...
One of my experimental books (with gut) has been selected for exhibition in Fiberart International 2016. Jurors were Chunghie Lee, Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, and Tali Weinberg. Over 1200 works of art by 515 artists from 30 countries were submitted.

After three days of deliberation, the jurors chose 80 pieces (by 78 artists) that they felt would collectively represent the broad range of contemporary fiber art and make the most dynamic exhibition.

Member's Opening

At the Arts Council's Member Opening reception. Someone is checking out one of my pieces on exhibit. I didn't get to see the whole show so I'll be back for the 4th Friday opening tomorrow night too. Come and see me!

How did they do that?  See how artists take throw-away items and transform them into beautiful pieces of artwork during the Transformation: Artful Recycling exhibition.  Artists from across the region responded to the call to show off their special creations and you can view their work.

Opening during 4th Friday, October 23, this exhibit will kick-off during the annual Zombie Walk.
This exhibition, sponsored by Pratt Industries & Waste Management on behalf of City of Fayetteville Environmental Services Department  continues through December 12 in the Arts Council Galleries (301 Hay Street).
