Duct Tape Double

My sis was here visiting from Missouri this week and among the many projects I had planned for us to do, was to make a duct tape double of my body for sewing purposes (yes, I am expanding my media toolbox yet again). Anyway, my husband has been too swamped to help me with this, and there's no one else in the world I would trust to cover my body in plastic wrap and duct tape, except my sister. If you are planning on sewing garments...or in my case, possibly costumes, then making a body double will give you the most accurate measurements. Overall, the project turned out as good as I could expect. It was a little difficult for me because I get clastrophobic. None of my skin was damaged in this experiment.

Handmade Market

I have a pretty busy exhibition schedule this summer and it all kicked off yesterday at the New Deal Handmade Market, an event sponsored by Edge of Urge to benefit the Dreams Center for Arts Education. I was excited to be a part of such a good cause and was also very inspired by all of the incredibly talented artists who participated. I also got to debut my leather wings (see photos of my booth below). For those of you who didn't get a chance to come to the market, you will soon be able to purchase my masks at my Etsy shop online.

Sorry I haven't had the chance to keep up with these special offers. Grad school is keeping me hopping, that's for sure. But ahhhh, the summer months are finally here.
