This restaurant/vodka bar was one of the most interesting places in Fitzroy. They had every kind of infused vodkas that one could imagine and the best part was the appetizer buffet! We filled our plates three times over and it was only about $11...less than the cost of one drink.

Fitzroy Part 2

I'm always on the look out for unique shop displays that incorporate original artwork in and among the other retail elements. These handmade dolls were so filled with character and detail.

Shopping in Fitzroy

Fitzroy is an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. It was an absolute blast to roam around this area.  Fitzroy is known throughout Australia for its street art, music scene and culture of bohemianism, and is the main home of Melbourne's Fringe Festival. Its commercial heart is Brunswick Street, one of Melbourne's major retail, culinary, and nightlife strips.

Wunderkammer

Ok, this by far was a highlight of my trip to Australia. Wunderkammer is an authentic curiosity shop filled with minerals, fossils, vintage medical and surgical tools, insects and butterflies, taxidermy and other scientific curiosities. I had to have one of their taxidermied Cane Toad.

Relics

Talk about Vintage heaven! Across the street from the Federal stands one of the largest antique malls I have ever been in. I fell in love with this collection of old Singer sewing machines.

The Federal

We had breakfast at the Federal on our way to Melbourne.

In its prime The Federal Woollen Mills was a thriving and bustling workplace employing in the vicinity of 1000 people until the ever-changing forces of supply and demand, production costs and progress brought about its demise last century. Today, an enterprizing family has helped revitalize and re-engergise the redeveloped factory site and turned part of its industrial interior into a unique and high-class Geelong restaurant, cafe and bar.

The Federal cafe, restaurant and bar is the project of Nathalie Moussi and her brothers, Carlo and Marc, who have taken their experience in restaurants, cafes and reception centres in metropolitan centres to create a one-of-a-kind dining and entertainment experience in one of Geelong’s most iconic and recognisable buildings.

National Wool Museum

We got to see the whole process from fleece to fabric at the National Wool Museum.

Narana

The Narana Aboriginal Cultural Center in Geelong was so great! We saw...and petted Kangaroos, and bought authentic, handmade souvenirs.

Culture

While visiting the Cape Otway Lightstation Aboriginal Hut, my eyes were really opened about how the Indigenous Australians have been treated over the years. We also got a chance to talk to the historian and get a better understanding of the purpose and use of boomerangs and the didgeridoo.

Lighthouse

The view from the Light House at Cape Otway is absolutely spectacular!
